There is quite a wide variety of restaurants, pubs and cafes within an hour radius of Markdale. Whether you are looking for a fancy dining experience or something more casual, you are sure to find a place that suits your tastes close by. We have compiled a list of our personal favourites which we hope you will enjoy as much as we have. There are dozens of quaint and charming little towns scattered throughout the Grey Highlands area and you will find delicious home-cooking and baking throughout!

In Markdale, ON

Fire & Ice
(usually a bustling atmosphere in the evenings, sometimes with live music and a pub-like feeling)

In Flesherton, ON:

The Bakery
(When you start with such great bread, you really can’t go wrong with these fluffy, flavourful egg salad sandwiches. On the weekends, we highly recommend the donuts and cinnamon twists, if you are lucky enough to get there early enough to nab one!)

The Bicycle Cafe
(A fun atmosphere and a varied menu to suit all tastes, meat & veggie options, local and imported beer selection and great desserts)

Highland Grounds
(Call ahead to see if they have the home-made mac n’ cheese on the menu that day, just like grandma used to make!)

In Williamsford, ON:

The Williamsford Pie Company
(not just pies, but also soups, salads and many baked goods)

The Mill Cafe and Book Store
(a fun place to go for lunch or dinner, meat & veggie options, buy a book and lounge by the side of the Saugeen River)

In Shelburne, ON:

Jelly Cafe
(we particularly love the perogies and salad combo)

In Kimberley, ON:

Justin’s Pizza
(on Friday nights, he makes wood-fired pizza)

In Eugenia, ON:

The Flying Chestnut
(Sunday brunch is a good time to go for well-priced and delicious menu options)

In Owen Sound, ON:

The Curry House
(many delicious flavour combinations!)

The Bleeding Carrot
(nice casual vegetarian eatery with lots of options as well as healthy juices and smoothies – you must try the Funky Monkey!)
